About The Position

The Courtesy Officer helps assure a safe and secure environment for residents and staff at Longhorn Village, a not-for-profit retirement community offering independent living and on-site assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation. The officer responds to emergency calls from residents or staff and alerts local authorities when needed. The position is supervised by the Director of Environmental Services. The advertised schedule is Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at $23 per hour, with a $50 gas stipend for travel of 20 or more miles.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Maintain a valid driver's license.
The position may require certifications or licenses as determined by local authorities.
Strong positive attitude toward customer service.
Genuine interest in geriatric care and ability to motivate while maintaining relationships with staff and residents.

Graduate of an accredited technical school.

Responsibilities

Patrol community premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and check the security of doors, windows, equipment, and vehicles.
Alert authorities in the event of a fire, an unauthorized person, or a medical emergency.
Dispatch ambulances or non-emergency medical transportation as needed.
Answer questions and provide information to residents during non-business hours or when the concierge is off duty.
Monitor and adjust controls for building systems, such as air conditioning, furnaces, or boilers.
Write reports about daily activities and irregularities, including equipment or property damage, theft, unauthorized persons, and unusual occurrences.
Complete work orders for maintenance items.
Maintain the work area and keep the department compliant with OSHA safety standards.
Demonstrate the community's hospitality promises toward residents, families, associates, and vendors.
