About The Position

Courtesy Clerks are an essential part of the Hy-Vee experience, helping customers from the register to their cars and keeping the store clean, stocked, and welcoming. The role involves packaging purchases, assisting customers, maintaining the store, and helping wherever needed. It is suited to someone who enjoys staying active, helping people, and taking pride in a clean and welcoming store. No education or experience is required; Hy-Vee provides training. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
Ability to communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
No education or experience requirements; training is provided.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is required.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greet customers, learn their names, and help make each visit a positive experience.
Package customer purchases and help transport them to customers’ vehicles or other modes of transportation.
Bring carts in from the parking lot and cart corrals throughout the shift.
Clean registers, restrooms, the break room, and the backroom; sweep and mop floors as needed.
Clean the can redemption area and empty recycling bins where applicable.
Stock, face, and rotate merchandise; clean shelves; understand shelf tags; and know merchandise locations in the store and backroom.
Pull products forward on shelves to maintain a full, organized appearance.
Check product prices as needed.
Maintain front-end supplies, including paper and plastic bags, receipt paper, and other necessary items.
Help train new Courtesy Clerks.
Deliver products to customers and assist in all departments as requested within wage and hour guidelines.
Shovel, salt, and sand walkways as needed.
Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other areas of the store and take on special projects as assigned.
Maintain personal hygiene and dress standards and follow Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
