Requirements

  • Availability for full-time employment (40 hours/week on site) with flexibility to work during events and programs that take place at various times of the day, including weekdays and evenings, and on some holidays and weekends
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • A proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams with at least 3 years of experience in collegiate or school district athletic departments, club management, and/or coaching management
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with court sports like basketball, volleyball, and pickleball
  • A commitment to developing programs that foster character, teamwork, and athletic skill development
  • The ability to develop and implement effective coach training, development, and accountability programs
  • A strong work ethic with high standards for quality, organization, attention to detail, punctuality, and the initiative to solve problems independently
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills, including the ability to listen and respond appropriately in tense situations
  • High-level writing skills, with the ability to compose concise and informative emails, and the desire to provide great customer service via email and SMS
  • Ability to quickly acquire and apply new knowledge and skills while maintaining a friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build strong relationships across departments and within the community
  • Professional personal presentation
  • Effective computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Sheets, Dropbox, Slack, and more

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of HCI's leadership team by collaborating across departments, contributing to facility-wide initiatives, and helping foster a positive culture for employees and members
  • Plan, develop, and execute the facility's court sports programs, including leagues, camps, clinics, and events for youth and adults (basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and more)
  • Oversee the full participant experience, including registration communication, program preparation, on-site execution, customer service, post-program follow-up, and evaluation
  • Ensure compliance with HCI safety procedures, child-protection standards, incident-reporting requirements, staff certifications, and facility policies
  • Hire, train, mentor, evaluate, and manage coaches, coordinators, and independent contractors while providing ongoing feedback, accountability, and development opportunities
  • Grow program participation through community networking, outreach, internal promotion, and collaboration with the Marketing team
  • Develop and manage program budgets while achieving revenue goals and identifying opportunities for program growth
  • Communicate proactively and respond promptly and professionally to phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries
  • Support overall facility operations by collaborating across departments, assisting with special events, participating in leadership meetings, and contributing to organizational success
