About The Position

Wellen Park Golf & Country Club, located in North Port, FL, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Court Sports Director! We are seeking a motivated individual who is interested in contributing to a positive experience for our members and guests while continuing to grow their knowledge of court sports operations. As an associate of Troon, you’ll contribute to a global leader in court sports, golf, and community management. General Purpose: The Court Sports Director provides lessons for resort and outside guests, facilitate resort and outside group events, and establish junior and local programming. The Court Sports Director will train and hire a teaching professional staff that will operate under Troon's customer service standards.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (AA); and four-six years related experience as a court sports professional/instruction; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPR
  • First Aid Certification
  • Court Sports Teaching Certification
  • Member of Professional Tennis Association
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
  • Possess U.S.T.A. rating of 5.0 or better.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises all court sports play and proper charging of fees and rental of equipment.
  • Initiates, directs, and promotes court sports clinics, special events, and programs in an effort to attract and maintain members’ court sports interests.
  • Provides beginning through advanced instruction (private and group) for all levels of players.
  • Implements and develops lesson programs for adults and juniors.
  • Enforces all club rules and regulations governing the use of the club/facility, its equipment, and other property.
  • Properly represents the club in state or national events as time will permit.
  • Works cooperatively with other departments to develop combined programs for the membership.
  • Ensures proper inspection of the courts/facilities on a daily basis prior to the start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed and the courts are in a safe working order.
  • Reports any maintenance problems to the department manager or Maintenance Manager.
  • Monitors court usage including special events, clinics, and lessons.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Manages department members.
  • Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate.
  • Develops ongoing training programs for associates.
  • Monitors business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Teach lessons to Resort guests and locals.
  • Establish a Junior Program.
  • Coordinate with the various court sports associations to secure business during off peak times.
