About The Position

The Court Services Officer I is responsible for the preparation of reports for sentencing and the performance of all aspects of supervision related to adult and juvenile offenders under the jurisdiction of the District Court. This role involves supervising a caseload, documenting contacts, verifying payments, compiling monthly statistics, and preparing pre-sentence investigation and criminal history reports. The officer will also correspond with other agencies and the public, testify in court as needed, and perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in criminal justice, social sciences or behavioral sciences.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
Interpersonal skills are required with the ability to interact respectfully with both clients and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of best practices in probation/ pretrial supervision is preferred.
A familiarity working with justice-involved clients experiencing trauma, mental health, and/or substance use is preferred.
A minimum of one year of experience in one or more of the following within the past five years: Conducting interviews, Writing formal reports, Working with justice-involved individuals, Working with clients with substance abuse and/or mental health issues.

Responsibilities

Supervise a caseload of adult and juvenile offenders.
Document all contacts, verify payments and balances owed to the District Court.
Compile monthly statistics and verify completions of all court ordered conditions of probation.
Prepare pre-sentence investigation reports and criminal history reports in both adult and juvenile cases.
Correspond with other agencies and the public.
Testify in Court as needed.
Perform any additional duties as required by the Chief Court Services Officer or the Court.
