About The Position

The Court Oversight Officer will work within the Administrative Office of the Probate and Family Court and will work full-time for the Office of Adult Guardianship and Conservatorship Oversight (OAGCO). The Oversight Officer Reviews adult guardianship and conservatorship cases and filings, noting problems and working to develop solutions. The position serves as liaison with community agencies and oversee a volunteer program. Candidates should have keen interest in serving the public.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and (3) Three years’ experience in accounting, taxes, estates, or business law.
  • A keen interest in serving the public and to further the goals of the OAGCO.
  • Ability and commitment to adhere to court auditing procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Capacity to work with and motivate volunteers.
  • Patience and tenacity; attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of personal computers and related software, including Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development of the Court Oversight/Audit Program as part of the OAGCO
  • Reviews adult guardianship and conservatorship cases and filings as assigned by the Project Director (Deputy Legal Counsel)
  • Notes any problems on standard forms for possible action
  • Will follow up on cases as requested by the manager, including in-person visits
  • Completes assignments in a timely manner and according to court procedures, including submission of monthly reports
  • Reviews case database and pulls up cases requiring follow-up
  • Oversees the volunteer program, including recruiting/screening volunteers, acting as liaison with court staff, matching to cases, reviewing volunteer reports and recommendations, performing regular training, tracking all volunteer participation, and meeting with student volunteers to fulfill any university credit requirements
  • Conducts periodic evaluations of the program
  • Serves as liaison with community agencies
