Position Highlights The Hood River County Circuit Court in Hood River, Oregon, is hiring a Court Operations Clerk. This position works at our front counter and is typically the first point of contact for the court. In this role, you will provide customer service to judges, court staff, attorneys, litigants, agencies, and the public. You will answer questions about court processes, the status of cases, and the court calendar. The support you provide will be in person, over the telephone, and in writing. You will process paperwork and records requests, schedule cases, and enter judgments for traffic and violation cases. Using guidelines, you will determine fees owed, disburse funds, suspend and clear suspensions on drivers’ licenses, and determine if offenders are eligible for reduced fines or diversion programs. You will also scan case files into our electronic records system and perform quality control checks. As a cashier, you will accept and receipt payments for fines, bail, security, and filing fees made at the service counter, over the telephone, and through the mail. You will balance the cash drawer, review financial information for accuracy and completeness, and give the information and funds to the deposit clerk for the daily bank deposit. Part of your time will be spent sorting, assembling, and organizing materials, routing and delivering documents, and processing incoming mail. You will also help other clerks in the office as needed. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Requirements

  • The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of responsible clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting.
  • OR Any combination of education and experience equivalent to one (1) year of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting.
  • Experience using a variety of software programs to access and input information and complete various tasks.
  • Experience providing customer service to a variety of people.
  • Experience and skill in writing and reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience handling cash or credit card transactions, generating receipts, and crediting accounts.
