The Multnomah County Circuit Court is hiring a Traffic Clerk (Court Operations Associate). In this role… Most of your day, you will assist customers, lawyers, partner agencies, and court staff—through email and over the phone—by answering questions about court processes and the status of cases as allowed by Oregon law and court rules. You will also accept and receipt payments for traffic fines. Additionally, you will enter data into the case tracking system (Odyssey) and will compile data and process filings and other paperwork for violation cases. You will route documents to hearings referees for judicial review and enter judgments and orders, tracking anything that requires additional follow up. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs. We welcome all candidates who are inspired by our work and mission.

Requirements

  • The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent AND At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents OR Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks that included using a computer to enter and retrieve information, meeting strict deadlines, and maintaining accuracy when interrupted or distracted by a variety of work settings.
  • Experience responding professionally to customers or clients who are facing challenging life circumstances, stressful situations, or trauma.
  • Ability to learn how to identify and safeguard confidential information and materials using established laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience handling monetary transactions, generating receipts, and crediting accounts.
  • Experience organizing and completing assigned tasks without direct on site supervision while maintaining productivity standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish skills are preferred but not required.

Benefits

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees [OR up to 99% of medical insurance premiums for part-time employees], including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $26.19 - $40.63. [OR the annual salary for this position is $54,464 - $84,501.]

  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job!
  • You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.
