About The Position

The First Judicial District is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time highly organized and detailed oriented Temporary Court Operations Clerk to join the Dakota County Court Administration team in Apple Valley, MN. This position will focus on hosting zoom court hearings, processing court orders and documents, assisting customers at the front counter, reviewing and processing reports, and assisting with general office needs. This temporary position is expected to last until June 30, 2027. The primary work location for this position is in the Civil/Family Division at the Dakota County Western Service Center in Apple Valley, MN 55124. Standard hours of work are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Reimbursable travel to train or work at other Dakota County Court facilities may be required, including Dakota County Judicial Center in Hastings, MN and Dakota County Northern Service Center in West St. Paul, MN.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Six months of recent experience in general clerical work

  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
  • Experience working in Minnesota Court Information System (MNCIS) the Minnesota Judicial Branch electronic case processing system
  • Experience working in a high-volume customer service environment

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and/or limited scope of court operations work within an assigned unit, which may include scanning and/or imaging documents, data entry, retrieving and filing case files and documents, and/or responding to requests for information.
  • Receives and responds to questions and requests for information from the general public, attorneys, and court employees; provides requested information in accordance with applicable policies, laws, and procedures; issues receipts for payment of court fees, assists public in filling out various applications and forms; prepares certified and plain copies of court records upon request.
  • Initiates case records using electronic means or paper documents; records required data regarding parties, documents, flags, comments, and events, in electronic case management system and other relevant systems; scans original documents into digital files for attachment to electronic case record.
  • May perform office support duties including receiving, sorting, opening, and distributing mail; may process and receipt checks received; copies, prints, and maintains office forms and documents; serves as a receptionist.
  • May provide assistance to others in performing courtroom operation duties, including clerking hearings, scheduling hearings, working calendars, and assisting staff with in-court updating.
  • Attends and participates in division/team meetings and trainings; maintains knowledge of court policies, process, and procedures.
