We welcome all candidates who are inspired by our work and mission. The Benton County Circuit Court in Corvallis, Oregon, is hiring a Customer Service Representative (Court Operations Clerk). In this role as the first point of contact with the public, you will help our court make a good first impression. You will greet visitors and answer phones. You will make sure customers connect with the right office or court staff. You will provide customer service to self-represented litigants. You will also answer questions about court processes and policies. You will spend part of your time processing and distributing the mail, supporting the jury coordinator, and providing backup coverage for courtroom clerks and the small claims/forcible entry detainer clerk. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one (1) year of responsible clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to one (1) year of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position
  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting
  • Experience using a variety of software programs to access and input information and complete various tasks
  • Experience providing customer service in person and over the phone
  • Experience explaining processes, procedures, policies, or decisions on behalf of an employer

Responsibilities

Benefits

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.

  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job.
  • You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.
