We welcome all candidates who are inspired by our work and mission. The Columbia County Circuit Court in Saint Helens, Oregon, is hiring a Cashier and Records Clerk (Court Operations Clerk).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of responsible clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to one (1) year of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines and frequent interruptions in a busy business or professional setting.
  • Experience using a variety of software programs to access and input information and complete various tasks.
  • Experience providing customer service to a variety of individuals in challenging circumstances.
  • Skill in writing and reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Experience handling cash or credit card transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Processing payments for fines and fees received at the public service counter, over the phone, and through the mail.
  • Reviewing new filings and case financials for accuracy and completeness.
  • Calculating filing fees.
  • Balancing the cash drawer, preparing daily bank deposit slips and reports, and turning in cash and checks for deposit or nightly storage in the court safe.
  • Entering new cases into our case management system (Odyssey), adding participant record information, and routing to the appropriate department.
  • Scanning documents and case files into Odyssey and verifying the image quality.
  • Making and certifying copies.
  • Answering and routing phone calls.
  • Answering questions about case files, dates, accounts, payments, and searches.
  • Performing data entry and case processing for small claims cases.
  • Preparing court forms, monitoring reports, and tracking pending cases.
  • Interacting with judges, court staff, attorneys, parties, law enforcement agencies, other courts, and the public.
  • Sharing information about data, policies, procedures, and court operations.
  • Providing support in person, over the phone, and in writing.
  • Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
