About The Position

Hennepin County District Court is seeking a Court Operations Associate for the Civil Division- Civil Filing Department. This department handles a variety of civil cases. The role involves performing diverse administrative assignments, requiring strong attention to detail, technological proficiency in a fast-paced electronic environment, and a commitment to excellent customer service. This AFSCME-represented position is classified as Court Operations Associate and is located in the Hennepin County Government Center. Core business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., with potential variations based on business needs. Staff primarily work onsite, with limited remote work opportunities available to trained staff depending on business needs. Training is conducted onsite, and a reliable internet connection is required for remote work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, and one (1) year of relevant job experience OR equivalent amount of post-high school education and experience totaling one year.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, or other electronic document applications, with the ability to learn other job-related software.
  • Reliable, with the ability to meet commitments, organize work and keep projects on task.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a high-volume fast-paced work environment with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Team-oriented, with a positive attitude and the ability to establish and maintain respectful, effective relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and working experience with Minnesota case management system (MNCIS), eFile and Serve (eFS) and SharePoint.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn other job-related software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative work in an office setting, including advanced clerical case processing, data entry, and financial transaction entry using multiple court technology systems.
  • Review filings for timeliness, completeness, proper document security, and statutory compliance. Determine the appropriate processing steps based on local and statewide policies and procedures and take necessary actions to maintain accurate court records in accordance with applicable rules and statutes.
  • Provide court information, procedure assistance and appropriate resources to internal and external court customers by responding to inquiries and requests in person, by phone, in writing, and electronically.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with team members to ensure daily work assignments and case processing are completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with division goals and established processing standards.
  • Provide operational support across all Civil Division lines of business by assisting other civil departments as needed to ensure adequate office coverage and meet workload demands.
  • Provide courtroom support by communicating effectively and promptly with judicial officers, court reporters, justice partners, and court customers to manage court calendars and meet the operational needs of the court.
