Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
  • Experience performing a variety of detailed clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting requiring a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience using a computer and a variety of software programs to perform tasks involving data entry, looking up accounts or cases, scheduling events in electronic calendars, and updating information.
  • Experience providing customer service to a variety of individuals experiencing challenging circumstances.
  • Experience handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Experience handling cash or credit card transactions and generating receipts.

Responsibilities

  • Answering questions about criminal and traffic violation case management and processing over the phone and in person.
  • Opening new criminal and traffic case files.
  • Performing data entry.
  • Accepting case filings from the online filing system.
  • Scheduling criminal hearings.
  • Coordinating multiple dockets.
  • Handling criminal pleadings.
  • Entering the jail to interview adults in custody to determine if they are eligible for court-appointed attorneys (may be required).
  • Processing transport orders and mail.
  • Attending court to support a judge or hearings referee by operating recording equipment, preparing forms, managing exhibits, coordinating parties’ actions, and ensuring that accurate records are maintained and that the courtroom is secure.
  • Processing payments and paperwork at the public counter.
  • Reviewing applications for court-appointed counsel.
  • Checking in parties for court.
