The Atlantic/Cape May Vicinage is seeking two highly motivated individuals with strong leadership, supervisory, personnel management, and administrative skills to join the Vicinage 1 Probation Division management team as Assistant Probation Division Managers. Under the general direction of the Probation Division Manager (Court Executive 2b), the selected candidates will be responsible for the administration, direction, coordination, and evaluation of all activities in support of Adult Supervision, Juvenile Supervision, Community Service and Collections, Recovery Court, and/or Child Support Enforcement. NOTE: Travel within the multi-county vicinage will be required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and three years of professional administrative experience, one of which shall have included experience in reviewing court activities for compliance with laws, court rules or administrative directives; consulting with judges, attorneys and law clerks; evaluating case management systems; coordinating activities between agencies, government and enforcement units; and/or preparing and analyzing case processing statistical reports.
  • Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
  • Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
  • Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting.
  • In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.

Nice To Haves

  • Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits.
  • An associate's degree and two years of additional professional experience may be substituted for the required bachelor's degree.
  • A master's degree may be substituted for one year of experience as indicated above -OR- a law degree may be substituted for two years of experience as indicated above.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in administering policies, statutes, court rules, and directives
  • Recommend the selection and assignment of personnel
  • Determine goals and objectives for the unit/division
  • Administer grievance procedures and disciplinary actions
  • Ensure efficient use of evidenced based practices and the Enhanced Outcome-Based Supervision (EOBS) model
  • Arrange training for personnel
  • Supervise and evaluate staff
  • Oversee enforcement and collection of court-ordered financial obligations
  • Recommend operational practices and procedures
  • Interact with divisions of the Judiciary, agencies, and external partners
  • Perform other duties as assigned
