The Court Clerk under general supervision, prepares, files, arranges, and maintains all civil, criminal and probate legal documentation for a specific court and judge. This is a non-supervisory position. The position requires frequent contact with representatives of courts, the general public, and other county employees. The role involves creating, coding, and documenting legal files, performing data entry, preparing court dockets, retrieving and preparing case files, computing court costs and fees, attending court proceedings, preparing legal documents, responding to inquiries, researching case files, conducting case searches, filing, sorting, and closing case files, and performing electronic filing. The position also requires assisting attorneys, securing signatures, reviewing applications, following up on credit time, handling sealed cases, scheduling archives, attending meetings and training, and staying updated on relevant laws and trends. Depending on the area of assignment, duties may include researching and activating warrants, accepting e-file motions, shifting files, monitoring jail time, taking fingerprints, processing jury members, striking the jury, preparing change of orders, assessing fees, and reporting case dispositions. The role also involves gathering, creating, and scanning information, printing judgments, filing motions, creating certifications of appeal rights, researching file numbers, and reporting actions on cases. Employees are designated as Disaster Service Workers and may be required to perform emergency services. A personal mobile smart device is required to access the County’s network and systems.
