About The Position

The Kenai Trial Court is looking for two Court Case Managers 2. This role involves managing criminal and minor offense cases from filing through final disposition, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of case files, documents, and scheduling. It also includes preparing and processing court orders, warrants, summonses, and other legal documents, maintaining case records, coordinating with various justice system stakeholders, and responding to public and agency inquiries. Specific duties can include case closures, bail and restitution processing, grand jury support, and backup courtroom duties. For the in-court position, responsibilities include serving as the in-court clerk for judicial officers, preparing hearing materials, managing courtroom equipment and security, monitoring proceedings, administering oaths, coordinating interpreters and telephonic appearances, supporting trials and Grand Jury proceedings, assisting visiting judges, processing court paperwork and scheduling, maintaining courtroom operations and security, securing facilities, managing exhibit storage and release, ordering supplies, processing transcript and media requests, assisting customers, and answering phones.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer.
  • Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a two-year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
  • Post-secondary transcripts, if using education to meet minimum qualifications.
  • A list of at least three (3) professional references, who have had supervisory authority over you along with their daytime contact phone numbers and email addresses.
  • Copies of your most recent (2) performance evaluations, if available.
  • Certification that applicants have a legal right to accept employment in the United States.
  • Work experience not already documented in your application must include the employer’s name, job title, dates of employment and whether full or part-time.
  • If post-secondary education is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications, you must fill in the Education and Training section of the application.
  • If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of credit hours earned in the Degree Obtained field.

Responsibilities

  • Manage criminal and minor offense cases from filing through final disposition.
  • Ensure case files, court documents, and scheduling information are accurate and up to date.
  • Prepare and process court orders, warrants, summonses, release documents, and other case-related paperwork.
  • Maintain case records.
  • Coordinate with judges, magistrates, law enforcement, correctional facilities, and attorneys on time-sensitive matters.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public and justice agencies.
  • Handle case closures, restitution and bail processing, and grand jury support.
  • Perform backup courtroom duties for judges and magistrates as needed.
  • Distribute court documents and update records.
  • Serve as the in-court clerk for judicial officers conducting hearings.
  • Provide backup courtroom support for the Superior Court Judge and Grand Jury.
  • Prepare and organize court documents, exhibits, witness lists, oaths, and other hearing materials.
  • Ensure judges and magistrates have all required files and resources.
  • Set up and maintain courtroom equipment, supplies, and security.
  • Monitor recordings and court proceedings.
  • Administer oaths.
  • Coordinate interpreters and telephonic appearances.
  • Manage exhibits and jury-related functions.
  • Support trials, hearings, and Grand Jury proceedings.
  • Assist visiting judges.
  • Process court paperwork, orders, and scheduling information.
  • Maintain courtroom operations and security before, during, and after proceedings.
  • Secure courthouse facilities at the end of each day.
  • Manage exhibit storage and release.
  • Order and track supplies.
  • Process transcript and media requests.
  • Assist customers and answer phones.
  • Perform other assignments as directed by the Clerk of Court.
