About The Position

The Peter Guo-hua Fu School of Architecture at McGill University is seeking applications for a Course Lecturer position for the Winter 2027 term. The role involves instructing ARCH 202 - Architectural Graphics and Elements of Design. This studio-based course introduces architectural design, focusing on building form in relation to program, structure, materials, site, and climate. It aims to develop skills in model making, conventional architectural drawing, various rendering techniques, sketching, and architectural rendering. The course includes lectures, seminars, and field trips. The curriculum is structured around four sequential projects exploring architectural design for the urban landscape, emphasizing formal expression, spatial organization, technical resolution, and sustainability. Students will learn about building design and representation, site analysis, and sustainable design principles, with research into urban organization, building types, and precedents. This is a team-taught studio, meaning instructors may work with different groups of students and will collaborate closely with colleagues, the Director, and the Studio Coordinator to ensure the course aligns with University Calendar regulations, the School's pedagogical objectives, and the Canadian Architectural Certification Board Student Performance Criteria (CACB-SPC).
