About The Position

As an PH County Nurse Manager within the Hart County Health Department within the District Two, Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways. District 2 Public Health serves 13 counties in northeast Georgia, including Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties. One of the fastest growing regions in the state, District 2 includes rural and urban communities with diverse public health challenges.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of nursing experience
  • Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license
  • CPR certification
  • Must be willing and able to work some weekends and other non-traditional hours.
  • Some travel is also required of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Under limited supervision, manages programs, staff, clinical services and fiscal processes of a local public health department.
  • Identifies community partners, providers and agencies and develops relationships to further public health efforts in the community.
  • Supervise, guides &/or instructs work assignments to subordinate staff.
  • Assist DND with training of new nurses
  • Execute Protocol Training
  • Oversee Quality Assurance activities in the Health Departments
  • Oversee CLIA lab audits
  • Coordinate coverage of nurses during Public Health emergencies
  • Coordinate outreach events
  • Be responsible for Quality Assurance activities in the Health Departments
  • Oversee lab processes
  • Coordinate coverage of nurses during Public Health emergencies
  • Coordinate outreach events
  • Knows vaccine schedules for children and adults
  • Gives correct needed vaccines to children and adults
  • Gives vaccines needed for school attendance along with correct certifications
  • Conducts audits for school and day cares
  • Conducts scoliosis screenings for schools
  • Conducts hearing/vision/dental screenings needed for school attendance
  • Cross-trains to TB, Child Health, Family Planning and IDC clinics
  • Other duties as assigned
