About The Position

As a County Government Facility Security Officer in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Access Control Officer with Allied Universal at a government location, you will help manage entry points, verify badges and credentials, monitor assigned areas, and conduct routine patrols to help deter security-related incidents. This is a driving post. You will support a caring, agile team culture through strong communication, professionalism, and integrity while helping create a positive experience for staff and visitors.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service by carrying out site-specific access control procedures, verifying identification and credentials, and monitoring entry and exit activity at a government location.
  • Monitor visitors, employees, contractors, and deliveries, documenting arrivals and departures and reporting unusual or unauthorized activity to site contacts and/or Allied Universal leadership.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following post orders and supporting emergency response activities when appropriate.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned indoor and outdoor areas, including entrances, hallways, and perimeter points, to help identify security-related concerns and/or policy violations.
  • Communicate professionally with staff, visitors, and the public while enforcing site rules, providing directions, and completing required logs, reports, and other security-related documentation.
