About The Position

The County Engagement Manager – Tribal Liaison serves as the face and voice of Medica and its Medicaid Programs in supporting tribal nations, tribal members, tribal enrollees, tribal descendants, and counties within our service area. This highly visible role focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships while promoting Medica’s services, programs, and care offerings to enhance the lives of our members. The Manager will actively participate in workgroups and discussions related to healthcare and member support across the region. Perform other duties than assigned. The successful candidate will be a relationship-driven professional with deep experience in tribal relations, community outreach, and public health or social services. They will be comfortable engaging with diverse populations, representing Medica in public forums, and collaborating across teams to support member needs. This individual will bring strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and a passion for building healthy communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in tribal nation relations, county public health or social services, community outreach, or advocacy
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build lasting relationships
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
  • Cultural competency and ability to engage with diverse populations
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong multitasking capabilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint) and virtual platforms (WebEx, Zoom)
  • Understanding of Healthy Communities principles and community health dynamics

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in relationship management with providers, counties, community health organizations, and/or tribal nations
  • Solid understanding of healthcare and managed care, including Medicaid, Medicare, Indian Health Service, and/or tribal healthcare
  • Experience attending public events in various weather conditions and standing/sitting for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and travel throughout the Medica service area, including evenings and weekends
  • Access to a reliable vehicle (mileage, parking, and travel expenses reimbursed)

Responsibilities

  • Represent Medica at coalition and tribal nation meetings, health fairs, conferences, public forums, and community events
  • Identify and cultivate partnerships to expand outreach and strengthen relationships with tribal nations and communities
  • Develop, organize, and facilitate meetings, discussion groups, workshops, and special events, including member consultations
  • Share insights and learnings with Medica leadership on issues important to tribal nations and supporting organizations
  • Maintain detailed records of member engagement, tribal contacts, and outreach activities using Medica’s CRM platform
