This position focuses on supporting youth ages 14 to 21 who have been in foster care or similar placements as they prepare for independent adulthood. The role requires flexibility, strong communication, and a commitment to helping youth build life skills.

Requirements

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports.
  • Conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake meetings and assess youth needs to determine the level of support required
  • Guide youth in building independent living skills such as financial management, housing readiness, and life planning
  • Advocate for youth access to services while providing mentoring and steady encouragement
  • Connect youth with educational, vocational, and community resources to promote long term stability
  • Respond to after hours or weekend needs when urgent support or intervention is required
