About The Position

This position supports children and families as they work toward improved safety, stability, and well-being through guided casework and training. The role grows in responsibility as you build your skills and confidence. As a County Caseworker 1, Ongoing Unit, you will perform the following duties: Client Interviews: Conduct interviews to understand family needs and assess their situations Service Eligibility: Determine and verify eligibility for agency services Supportive Counseling: Provide counseling, referrals, and guidance to help families improve functioning Case Documentation: Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and social histories Family Planning: Assist families in creating plans that support child well-being and overall improvement Court and Training Participation: Attend court hearings and training sessions as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
  • Pass a background investigation
  • Pass a drug screening
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance
