About The Position

The County Caseworker 1 role with Monroe County Children & Youth Services gives you the chance to support families working through difficult times. This position helps you guide children and youth toward greater stability by connecting them with vital community resources. The role focuses on connecting families with the social services they need to achieve greater stability.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
  • Must pass a background investigation
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Responsibilities

  • Identify family needs and determine safety concerns for children
  • Connect families with agencies and follow their progress
  • Meet with families to observe living conditions and provide support
  • Record case details and prepare required reports accurately
  • Work with courts, schools, and service teams to support family goals
