About The Position

This position is an entry-level professional role that helps individuals and families improve social, emotional, and physical functioning. The work is completed under close supervision while you develop the knowledge and skills needed to serve the community. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties: Client Interviews: Conduct interviews to gather social histories and assess service needs Service Eligibility: Determine and verify eligibility for services and provide program information Support Planning: Assist clients and families with developing plans to improve their functioning Case Management: Maintain a caseload, document activities, and gather information from clients and collateral contacts Service Coordination: Help coordinate supportive and protective services for children and families, including at-risk children Professional Reports: Prepare reports, correspondence, and participate in required training and development.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
  • Must pass a background investigation
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening
  • Submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance

  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
