Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions
  • Possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance
  • Pass a drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Implement initial action plans based on new intake calls and follow up on case developments
  • Conduct visits and review existing cases to evaluate family needs and progress
  • Carry out child protective services investigations to ensure child safety while encouraging healthy family environments
  • Coordinate with service providers so families receive the support and resources they need
  • Monitor family progress and work toward stabilizing and strengthening the family unit
