The Country Risk Management Team is made up of economists, political scientists and finance professionals brought together to understand the global environment and how it can affect business outcomes. We cover ~120 countries and the questions we answer on a day-to-day basis are always evolving. We are currently recruiting a country risk analyst to cover the Americas region (US/Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean) from our New York office. Our small team favours analysts who can tackle unstructured problems with independence and a rigorous, detailed approach. The work we do is always applied and relevant to business objectives.

Requirements

  • Post-graduate in economics, political science, finance or other relevant discipline
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with proven ability to be resourceful and efficient
  • Strong analytical skills and flexible thinking across disciplines
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member with regional and global responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to work hard and flexibly in a rewarding environment
  • Solid professional experience that reflects above skills

Responsibilities

  • Monitor economic, political and policy trends to better anticipate changes in business environments that will affect Nomura
  • Form and communicate relevant opinions through a variety of channels, including written pieces, data visualization and presentations
  • Cover a portfolio of countries, sovereigns, sub-sovereigns and/or supranationals in the Americas region and make relevant credit risk decisions
  • Participate in credit-sensitive transactions affecting challenging countries in the Americas region
  • Monitor and upkeep a risk portfolio, while meeting internal and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate across the firm and support other risk managers and senior management
