About The Position

Airgas is seeking a Counter Sales Associate for its retail shop in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. The role combines customer interaction with operational support in an industrial environment. The associate helps customers select industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and other supplies, advising on suitable tools, hardware, materials, and procedures and demonstrating equipment use. The position supports customers and branch operations through accurate order entry, transaction processing, paperwork, merchandise coordination, inventory presentation, and cylinder and pallet organization. The listed target salary is $23.50 per hour, with bonus opportunities. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with no weekend work; occasional overtime may be needed. Airgas provides personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 2 years of experience in product, warehouse, or sales environments; an equivalent combination of education and life experience is also valued.
Excellent customer service skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
Attention to detail when handling transactions.
Availability for occasional overtime when additional team support is needed.
Ability to operate in a drug-free workplace.

Nice To Haves

Experience in industrial retail, inside sales, or inventory control.
Background in gas, welding, or safety supplies.
Familiarity with SAP, Google, or MS Office applications.
Detailed understanding of SAP and PROS functionalities.
Ability to communicate clearly and warmly with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

Responsibilities

Follow company policies, safety requirements, and personal protective equipment practices.
Provide excellent customer service to internal and external partners and foster long-term relationships.
Complete required paperwork accurately, including coding, costing, and pricing.
Help customers identify appropriate tools and procedures for their tasks, and demonstrate equipment use.
Enter orders and process transactions; assist with deposit reconciliation.
Communicate with customers and team members by phone, email, and in person about costs and delivery.
Contribute to an outgoing call strategy supporting branch growth.
Coordinate merchandise transfers between locations to meet customer needs.
Maintain a positive, supportive working atmosphere with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
Stock shelves and maintain welcoming showroom displays.
Coordinate cylinder movement and pallet organization.
