About The Position

We are looking for a Counter Sales Associate to join our team in a role that balances high-energy customer interaction with meaningful operational support. If you enjoy solving problems and building relationships in a dynamic, industrial environment, we want to meet you! A Counter Sales Associate will partner with our customers to provide industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and other essential supplies. You will serve as a trusted guide, advising customers on the tools, hardware, and materials needed to successfully complete their projects. By demonstrating equipment use and sharing insights on product quality, you help our customers pioneer new solutions in their own work.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in product, warehouse, or sales environments (we also value an equivalent combination of education and unique life experience).
  • Requires frequent use of computer and telephones and occasional use of a forklift, pallet jack or other material handling equipment.
  • Employees will frequently be required to position themselves to stock inventory and handle cylinders.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to routinely move up to 60 pounds and move more than 60 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.

Nice To Haves

  • A background in gas, welding, or safety supplies is a wonderful asset.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Google and/or MS Office Applications.
  • A detailed understanding of SAP and PROS functionalities
  • The ability to communicate clearly and warmly with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds.
  • Forklift preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Champions a culture of safety by following group guidelines, including the correct use of personal protective equipment, to ensure a secure and supportive environment for everyone.
  • Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external partners, fostering understanding and long-term relationships.
  • Ensures all required paperwork is accurately completed, including coding, costing, and pricing, to maintain clear communication.
  • Partners with customers to identify the most effective and appropriate solutions for their specific tasks; demonstrates equipment use to build customer confidence.
  • Collaborates on order entry and transaction processing, while supporting the team with the smooth reconciliation of deposits.
  • Coordinates seamlessly via phone, e-mail, and in person with customers and team members to provide helpful, clear information on costs and delivery.
  • Contributes to an outgoing communication strategy to support the continued growth and collective success of the branch.
  • Coordinates the transfer of merchandise between locations to smoothly meet customer needs.
  • Nurtures a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a supportive, collaborative manner with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Stocks shelves and maintains welcoming showroom displays to provide an excellent, inviting customer experience.
  • Collaborates on cylinder movement and pallet organization to keep the workspace safe and efficient.
