About The Position

St. Cecilia School and Academy seeks a compassionate, organized, and student-centered School Counselor to support the academic, social, and emotional development of students in a faith-based environment. The School Counselor works collaboratively with faculty, families, and administration to promote student well-being while upholding the mission and values of St. Cecilia School and Academy and the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in School Counseling or a related field preferred
• Valid state certification or licensure in school counseling preferred
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and staff
• Commitment to supporting the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church
• Experience working in a school setting preferred
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
• Completion of background screening and compliance with Archdiocese Prevent and Protect STL Safe Environment Program required

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group counseling to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs
• Assist students with conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify and support students needing additional guidance
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns while maintaining confidentiality
• Develop and implement age-appropriate counseling programs and classroom guidance lessons
• Support crisis intervention and provide referrals to outside resources when necessary
• Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive school climate rooted in Catholic values
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation
• Participate in school meetings and collaborate with administration on student support plans
