About The Position

This is a full-time Counselor position focused on providing comprehensive care to individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. The role involves completing intake, developing treatment plans, documenting services, and facilitating various forms of counseling. The position requires adherence to state and CARF standards, participation in clinical staffing, and representing the agency professionally within the community. The counselor will work with clients to promote recovery, healthy decision-making, and improved problem-solving skills, aligning with the company's long-term and short-term goals. The role also includes handling crisis situations and collaborating with referral sources, clients, and coworkers.

Requirements

Hold the credentials of a Qualified Addiction Professional as defined by the Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc. (MCB) Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC), Certified Reciprocal Alcohol Drug Counselor (CRADC), Certified Reciprocal Advanced Alcohol Drug Counselor (CRAADC), or Registered Alcohol Drug Counselor (RADC), Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professional (CCJP); or Credential of Co-Occurring (for Missouri).
Hold the credentials as defined by the Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board, (BSRB) Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) or Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC) (for Kansas).
Applicant must be willing to become licensed in additional states, other than the state currently licensed in.
Applicant must be willing and comfortable with providing telehealth services.
Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record and abuse/neglect.
Completion of New Hire Orientation within 30 Days of Employment.
All training requirements including Relias Learning within two (2) weeks of employment and annually thereafter.
First Aid certification within three (3) months of beginning employment and upon renewal date.
CPR certification within three (3) months of beginning employment and upon renewal date.
Behavioral Management training completed within thirty (30) days of employment or first available class after start date: CPI for Residential programs Peaceful Intervention or Verbal De-escalation for Outpatient programs.
Achievement of thirty-six (36) hour training requirements within 2 year period in accordance with 9 CSR 10-7.110 E 1. (Missouri).
Growth and Development form (CPRC only) within thirty (30) days of employment.
Privileging and Credentialing form (CPRC only) within thirty (30) days of employment.
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and regulations of the program to which the associate is assigned.
Provide copy of applicable certifications/licenses.
Valid Driver’s license in state of residency required.

Nice To Haves

Thorough knowledge of caseload management and rehabilitation methods, principles, and techniques, as they relate to mental health and substance use disorder treatment.
Knowledge of the problems encountered by persons with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
Considerable knowledge of the methods and modalities as well as the legal requirements and court procedures related to treating mental health and substance use disorders.
Ability to establish rapport with client/patient population.
Capable of employing methods and counseling techniques in an effective manner to assist clients/patients to engage in recovery and improve overall functioning.
Capable of communicating ideas clearly and effectively verbally and in writing to produce clear and concise reports.

Responsibilities

Complete intake/screening/assessment process within appropriate time frames.
Develop treatment plans for clients in accordance with state regulatory/CARF guidelines.
Complete correspondence in a timely fashion.
Participate in clinical staffing/treatment team meetings providing feedback on pertinent cases.
Adhere to weekly service provision model.
Document all services provided in accordance with state regulatory /CARF/agency standards.
Ensure that services are entered within the appropriate time frame and format, referencing treatment plans.
Correct any file/charting deficiencies within appropriate time frame.
Assist clients through transition process and complete final correspondence.
Complete all mandatory trainings meeting state regulatory /CARF Standards.
Represent the agency within the community in a professional manner.
Maintain positive, professional relationships with referral sources, clients, and coworkers, adhering to Code of Ethics and agency policies.
Handle crisis situations as they arise.
Facilitate group counseling, group education, family conferences, and individual sessions focused on resolving problems related to substance use.
Work with clients/patients to examine attitudes, feelings, and behaviors that promote recovery, healthy decision making, and improved problem solving skills.
Demonstrates interest in long term and short term goals and objectives of the company.
Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor, Program Director, Vice President, or the Executive Team members.
