About The Position

This position is for a Counselor with CASAC, CASAC-P, CASAC-T, or Advance CASAC credentials in Brooklyn, NY. The role involves adhering to OASAS regulatory standards for various treatment programs, assisting in policy maintenance, ensuring patient care standards based on best practices, and upholding organizational values. Responsibilities include conducting individual and group counseling sessions, performing assessments and intakes, developing culturally diverse clinical treatment plans, assisting with utilization reviews and skills-based workshops under supervision, processing incident reports, providing input for employee reviews, preparing for case conferences, conducting waived urine testing, monitoring patient toxicology, maintaining a clean work environment, completing treatment plans and psychosocial assessments, ensuring patients receive necessary referrals and discharge information, maintaining patient confidentiality, and performing utilization reviews. All clinical documentation requires review by a master-level counselor and Qualified Health Provider (QHP).

Requirements

  • Current and Valid CASAC- P, CASAC, CASAC- T, or Advance CASAC.
  • Must demonstrate competence in the specific areas relevant to this role.
  • Must have computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and managing weekly individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Performing assessment and intake.
  • Assisting with the development of clinical treatment tracks that are diversified in language and culture.
  • Assisting with weekly utilization reviews based on established clinical and administrative standards, under the supervision of a master level Qualified Health Provider (QHP).
  • Assisting with monthly skills-based workshops relative to chemical dependency, under the supervision of a master level QHP.
  • Assisting with the review, process, and distribution of incident reports based on established agency-wide protocol.
  • Providing input for employee reviews as requested.
  • Assisting in the preparation of weekly case conference and case reviews.
  • Conducting waived testing for urine.
  • Recording individual patient data in the NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA) Substance Abuse Tracking and Reporting System (STARS).
  • Monitoring patient toxicology.
  • Maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Completing treatment planning and psychosocial assessments.
  • Meeting with patients for individual sessions as required by OASAS and Joint Commission regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring patients receive all required referrals and discharge information.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of patients at all times as per regulations.
  • Performing utilization reviews as needed by QHP.
