About The Position

La Posada at Pusch Ridge, an elegant and sophisticated retirement community in Oro Valley, AZ, is seeking a Part-Time Counselor (Weekday Position) to join our dynamic and compassionate team. This is a meaningful opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about supporting older adults and enhancing quality of life across the continuum of care. In this role, the Counselor will provide clinical social work services, including psychotherapy, to individuals seeking support from the general community. The position also includes collaboration with Case Management and Home Care teams to ensure coordinated, person-centered care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work required
  • strong clinical assessment and intervention skills
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in social work or counseling with adults, ideally older adults
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
  • A compassionate, people-centered approach with emotional sensitivity and sound judgment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • LMSW or LCSW preferred

Responsibilities

  • Providing assessment, diagnosis, and psychotherapy for individuals, couples, families, and groups
  • Supporting residents and families with concerns including relationships, grief, depression, financial stress, medical conditions, and life transitions
  • Developing individualized care plans and maintaining accurate clinical documentation, progress notes, and referrals
  • Facilitating or developing support groups addressing psychosocial and emotional needs
  • Collaborating with physicians, social workers, clergy, families, and external providers to coordinate care
  • Making appropriate referrals for treatment, medication management, or community resources
  • Participating in community outreach and educational presentations on mental and behavioral health
  • Ensuring full compliance with HIPAA and all applicable privacy regulations
  • Evaluating program effectiveness through resident feedback and clinical outcomes
  • Supporting additional duties as assigned within scope of qualifications
  • Coordinate resident care across the continuum of services at La Posada
  • Build relationships with residents to proactively identify emotional and psychosocial needs
  • Meet with new residents within 30 days of move-in for initial assessment and ongoing support
  • Assist residents and families through transitions across levels of care, providing education and emotional support
