About The Position

The Counselor provides individual, group, and family therapy, psychosocial assessments, and discharge planning for patients in the Outpatient/Inpatient Mental Health Department. The position also administers psychological testing, prepares reports for the medical record, and provides counseling services through the Employee Assistance Program. On an outpatient basis, the Counselor formulates a diagnosis and initiates appropriate treatment.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Psychology, Clinical Counseling, or Social Work.
Two years of experience in mental health counseling preferred.
Board certified or board certification eligible; listed as preferred.
Successful completion of a physical and background check is required for employment.
Must be physically able to perform all assigned job duties.

Responsibilities

Conduct psychosocial history assessments.
Conduct psycho-education groups.
Conduct individual therapy.
Participate in discharge planning.
Conduct family therapy.
Facilitate group psychotherapy.
On an outpatient basis, formulate a diagnosis and initiate treatment appropriate to that diagnosis.
Administer psychological testing.
Prepare reports for the medical record.
Provide counseling services for the Employee Assistance Program.
