About The Position

This position is for a Counselor for the 2026-2027 school year. The Counselor will use accepted theories and effective techniques to provide various forms of counseling to students, facilitate student organizations, and connect students and families with resources. The role also involves supporting teachers with social and emotional issues, documenting services, coordinating transition events, and serving on the District Crisis Team.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Counseling or Psychology
• Current Arizona Counseling Certification
• Demonstrates effective communication skills
• Demonstrates initiative and ability to innovate
• Three years of Counseling experience or relevant work with similar demographic population as TESD.
• Demonstrates the ability to work with small groups and in a classroom setting.

Nice To Haves

• Bi-lingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uses accepted theories and effective techniques to provide individual developmental, group developmental, preventive, remedial, and/or crisis counseling
• Facilitate the student led organizations (inter-curricular club).
• Provide students with support to identify and overcome barriers to success.
• Broker of resources-connect students and families to school and community resources.
• Provides support to teachers in assessing and dealing with social and emotional issues experienced by students.
• Documentation of services and outcome reporting.
• Coordinate High School Transition Events.
• Serves on the District Crisis Team
• Other duties as assigned.
