About The Position

Helio Health is on a mission to treat and promote recovery from the effects of substance use, mental health disorders, and other behavioral healthcare issues. To support the mission of Helio Health, the Counselor I will review of main responsibilities. The Counselor I will work on a Full-Time basis out of Helio Health’s Binghamton Inpatient Detox program.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required AND demonstrated steady progress towards QHP status: QHP status includes active enrolment in CASAC or Associate’s or Bachelor’s level Human Services program.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services with CASAC-T preferred.
• One year counseling/human services experience preferred.
• Equivalent alternative combination of education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirements.
• Knowledge of addiction/recovery, behavioral health, self-help group process and principles of counseling.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services with CASAC-T preferred.
• One year counseling/human services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a case load of patients seeking treatment from the effects of substance use and/or mental health disorders.
• Perform essential counseling responsibilities including screening, intake and orientation, assessment, evaluation and intervention, treatment planning, referrals, crisis intervention, counseling, patient education, case management, reporting and record keeping.
• Participate in program, administrative and clinical committees as assigned.
• Relate effectively with staff, clients, and community while upholding confidentiality requirements.
