About The Position

Performs work as a substance abuse counselor and provides client services, including assessments and group and/or individual counseling sessions as needed. This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.

The role coordinates referrals and cases involving in-house services with community supervision officers and the treatment team to support appropriate referrals, quality services, and continuity of care. The counselor maintains regular contact with departmental staff about client participation and makes treatment recommendations as needed. Other duties may be assigned.

Employees have face-to-face contact with people charged with and/or convicted of criminal offenses. They are expected to demonstrate integrity and a positive work ethic and to follow the Code of Ethics, standardized policies and procedures, and directives from department leadership and supervisors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of computers and standard office practices and procedures.
• Required LCDC certification, license, or registration.
• Ability to communicate and understand verbal communication.
• Ability to visually observe offenders.
• Ability to read and communicate in writing.
• Ability to make decisions quickly and accurately in a fast-paced, busy environment.
• Availability for work.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment.
• Adequate typing skills.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual ability.
• Two years of prior probation or criminal justice experience is desired.

Responsibilities
