About The Position

This position will develop clinical treatment plans and provide individual, family, and crisis intervention counseling. The role involves providing counseling in a clinic setting, facilitating specialized group sessions, and coordinating with the client care team to develop treatment plans. The counselor will assess and report on client progress, make appropriate referrals for treatment and aftercare, and prepare progress and discharge letters for social workers and the court system. The position serves as a guide for self-sufficiency and a lifestyle free of substance abuse, requiring the maintenance of current and accurate records. Interaction with clients and their families must be professional, considering cultural, psychological, social, and environmental factors, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of counseling best practices.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health issues.
  • High level of professionalism, client service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform duties skillfully and effectively.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining a necessary degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to positively and effectively represent the organization.
  • Ability to work in culturally and racially diverse populations and in lower socio-economic conditions.
  • Registered with a California licensing agency and currently enrolled in an accredited Addiction Studies Program in the process of becoming certified.
  • Must be able to pass required pre-employment health and background screening.
  • Must provide proof of required vaccinations by federal, state, and local funding sources.
  • BLS/CPR certified.
  • Employees driving personal vehicles for El Proyecto business must provide El Proyecto proof of a valid driving license, and auto liability insurance.
