About The Position

The University of Arkansas Community College at Hope-Texarkana (UACCHT) is a proud member of the University of Arkansas System. The University of Arkansas System is comprised of land-grant research institutions, a teaching hospital, five community colleges, two schools of law, a presidential school, a residential math and science high school, and an online university, as well as divisions of agriculture, archaeology and criminal justice. The Student Advisor provides or makes provisions for support to students enrolled in CPI programs. Support services include testing, advising, career assessment, orientation programs and counseling. The Student Advisor will collaborate with campus personnel to provide this service to students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the student support system contact, student advisor and tracks student progress.
  • Develops plans for mandatory student orientation, and organizes the orientation session
  • Counsels students concerning academic, career, social and personal needs, inform students with special needs of campus services, and assists students in assessing career interests
  • Conducts personal and group counseling sessions, coordinates workshops and speakers for students, performs crisis intervention, recommends action based on evaluation and refers students to mental health, social, or professional counseling services
  • Collaborates with other personnel who serve as case managers for student support services
  • Perform other duties as assigned
