About The Position
This is a part-time pool for the 2026-2027 academic year for the position of Counselor Associate. Applicants must meet specific minimum qualifications related to education and licensure, and demonstrate sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in counseling, career development, educational counseling, guidance counseling, counseling psychology, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling
- OR a Master’s degree in Education, Concentration: Counseling; Education: Counseling Option; Education: Counseling and Guidance Concentration; Education: Educational and Clinical Counseling; Education: Educational Counseling; Education: School Counseling; Social Welfare; Guidance and Counseling; or Marriage & Family Counseling (approved comparable degree majors at MiraCosta College)
- OR a Bachelor’s degree in any of the majors listed above AND a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) license valid in California
- OR a valid appropriate California Community College Credential in the discipline area
- OR the equivalent
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
