About The Position

Pyramid Healthcare’s Detox and Residential Treatment Center in Hammonton, New Jersey, provides trauma-informed, person-centered care to support men and women in achieving long-term recovery. Evidence-based services include group therapy, individual counseling, and elective groups to help clients transition to a sober lifestyle. The facility strives to provide same-day admissions for withdrawal management and residential treatment. The Counselor Assistant facilitates clinical support services in accordance with facility standards and the program’s philosophy. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with weekends as needed. Pay is $21–$25 per hour.

Requirements

A master’s degree from an accredited college in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing with a clinical specialty in the human services field, or another related field; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in one of these fields.

Responsibilities

Initiate and develop resident treatment-planning goals through contact with clients, families, colleagues, and other staff.
Evaluate and address clients’ behavioral and emotional needs.
Complete level-of-care assessments with clients in a timely manner.
Refer clients to appropriate aftercare upon completion of treatment.
Conduct individual and process group therapy sessions, including preparing session materials.
Communicate with referral sources and company representatives.
Participate in community meetings with clients.
Complete family sessions as necessary.
Receive calls from support staff as necessary regarding clients’ behavioral and emotional needs.
Maintain a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for clients, including providing crisis intervention.
Perform other duties as assigned.
