About The Position

The Counsellor, Waitlist & Triage is a dedicated practitioner who supports child counselling services in the Great Southern, ensuring clients can access services in ways that are integrated and responsive, child safe, person centered, domestic violence and trauma informed. As the Counsellor, Waitlist & Triage you will be responsible for intaking referrals, and offering interim brief intervention counselling support to children, young people and their parents/carers whilst waiting for specialist counselling services. In addition, you will be the first point of contact for internal and external service providers who wish to refer a child or young person for counselling, as well as responsible for the management of children’s counselling waitlists. This is a part time (0.5 FTE - 18.75 hours per week) max term opportunity based in Albany ending 30 June 2027. The successful candidate will work Tuesday - Thursdays.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Science or Counselling
  • Eligibility for membership of appropriate professional association
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication
  • Intermediate computer skills and the use of Microsoft Office Software
  • Knowledge of victim and perpetrator issues in Family and Domestic Violence and Child Sexual Abuse
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting individuals and families, preferably in respect to family and domestic violence and/or child sexual abuse
  • Experience working in culturally safe and responsive ways with clients from Aboriginal and other diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Knowledge of Best Practice Guidelines and Principles
  • A current National Police Clearance valid within one year
  • A WA Working with Children Check
  • A WA Driver's Licence
