As our Career Counseling Manager, you'll lead the Introduction to Career Preparation Program and oversee the counseling and case management services that keep students progressing, engaged, and on track to complete the Job Corps program. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school, including at least 15 semester hours in Social Services-related instruction
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in counseling or a related field

  • Master's degree from an accredited school
  • Previous Job Corps or related program experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Introduction to Career Preparation Program and provide oversight of student counseling services and individual case management — ensuring student progress, retention, and completion of the Job Corps program.
  • Oversee and manage evaluations of student progress and student panels, and help the Center meet or exceed DOL/Company performance goals.
  • Supervise and manage the Counseling and Career Preparation Program and staff.
  • Interview and recommend candidates for hire, evaluate performance, and coach, develop, and hold staff accountable.
  • Fill vacancies promptly, provide required and supplemental training, employ sound time-management and delegation, motivate and empower your team, recognize accomplishments, and proactively address performance concerns.
  • Serve as an active member ensuring case management and success teams are effective systems for student success.
  • Positively contribute to the Center's culture by treating students with care and respect, helping them achieve personal and career goals, and ensuring they feel safe and welcomed.
  • Ensure students are actively engaged in leadership and after-hours programming that promotes achievement, and provide high-quality supervision that positively influences student behavior.
  • Follow all integrity guidelines and ensure strict confidentiality of sensitive information and student data.
  • Develop community linkages for education, employment, Career Technical Training, and Work-Based Learning, and build meaningful relationships with elected officials that promote a positive image of the Center and Job Corps.
  • Mentor, monitor, and model the Career Success Standards, communicate clearly, resolve problems with sound judgment, partner with staff across all departments, and accept direction from the Center Director, Duty Officer, or Shift Manager, including other duties as assigned.
