Counsel, Federal Government Contracting

Accenture Federal Services•Arlington, VA

About The Position

Accenture Federal Services is seeking an experienced federal contracts attorney and strategic legal advisor to support its federal business. The Counsel will advise Business and Sales leadership on market-facing strategies and support U.S. federal procurements and government contracting matters across the full lifecycle, from opportunity identification and capture through proposals, contract award, performance, modification, and closeout. The manager-level role partners with business leaders, sales and capture teams, contracts professionals, finance, security, compliance, procurement, and other corporate functions to identify and manage legal and regulatory risks while enabling the pursuit and delivery of technology and consulting solutions to federal customers. The successful candidate will be embedded in the business as a trusted, practical advisor—not solely a contract reviewer—helping teams identify issues early, understand options, structure transactions, and advance opportunities while protecting the company’s interests. The attorney should be able to distinguish legal requirements and contractual obligations from business preferences and manageable commercial risks. The role also involves translating complex procurement requirements into actionable advice, developing practical contracting guidance, and improving processes so business and contracts teams can manage requirements efficiently while maintaining legal and compliance controls. The position requires U.S. citizenship and eligibility for admission as Virginia Corporate Counsel. Periodic travel or commuting to Arlington, Virginia may be needed for legal team meetings and occasional in-person business needs.

  • Experience reviewing and negotiating federal contracts, solicitations, teaming agreements, subcontracts, and related commercial agreements.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal requirements clearly to business stakeholders.
  • Strong business judgment and ability to identify material risks without unnecessarily impeding business objectives.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • Experience with federal cybersecurity and supply-chain requirements, including CMMC-related requirements where applicable.

  • Experience supporting capture and proposal teams before solicitation and contract award.
  • Experience counseling senior executives and business leaders.
  • Prior experience at a major law firm, government contractor, federal agency, or in-house legal department supporting federal business.
  • Eligibility for a Top Secret or higher security clearance.
  • Ability to commute to Arlington, Virginia for periodic legal team meetings and occasional in-person business needs.
