Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a major law firm or an established in-house legal department.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good business judgment.
  • Strategic, pragmatic and thorough with a solid ability to assess legal risk.
  • Strong drafting, negotiating and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated and someone who thrives on challenges, having responsibility and enjoys working in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment alongside a very cohesive team of professionals.
  • Strong commercial law background.
  • Particular experience in the drafting and negotiation of a variety of commercial agreements, including sale and purchase agreements, leasing agreements, and agreements for the procurement of “mission critical” goods and services.
  • Solid academic credentials and a proven track record must be demonstrated.
  • Membership in the Bar of a Canadian Province or U.S. State is essential.
  • Eligible to work in the country of interest at the time any offer of employment is made.
  • Provide proof of their eligibility to work in the country of interest prior to their start date.

  • Common and civil law training is an asset.
  • Bilingual candidates (preference given based on equal qualifications).

Responsibilities

  • Providing advice on contractual matters and other legal issues.
  • Drafting, reviewing and commenting on contractual and other documentation.
  • Playing an important role in negotiating and supporting the “client” at all phases of a project, from conception through the letter of intent to completion of the final transaction.
  • Working on a variety of commercial transactions primarily focused on aircraft and other aviation equipment-related transactions.
