About The Position

The Cotton Trading Manager is accountable for working with the current ADM cotton trading network to develop and implement strategic plans for the cotton fiber origination/trading business for the USA. This role is responsible for the procurement of cotton bales and marketing in domestic and international markets to achieve optimum financial results and support destination teams. The position will also manage risk in accordance with corporate policy, develop strategies aligned with corporate objectives, and execute these strategies using corporate and staff resources. The Cotton Trading Manager will serve as a resource for global cotton fiber risk and strategy, ensuring efficient and timely execution to meet customer and company needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in cotton trading and a comprehensive understanding of the full supply chain.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in the marketing of commodities and related food, feed and/or fuel products in North America.
  • University degree in agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Validated capacity to excel within a high-risk, dynamic work environment.
  • Shown ability to assess risk and exercise good judgment in making decisions.
  • Proven negotiation and social skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of domestic & international trade.
  • Shown ability to lead effectively within a team-based work environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with end-users, suppliers, and internal customers.
  • Computer competent, with proven ability in the use of spreadsheet, database and word processing software applications within a windows-based operating environment.
  • Experience in cotton trading and understanding of the full supply chain.
  • Knowledgeable in truck, rail, and container freight logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the cotton fiber origination/trading business in the USA.
  • Procure cotton bales and market them in domestic and international markets.

  • Develop and implement market development, strategic alignments, and objectives for the cotton fiber business.
  • Oversee fiber origination, strategy, and growth in the US market with the help of the destination team.
  • Lead and participate in marketing efforts, primarily within regional domestic markets, to improve profitability.
  • Interact with customers and maintain regular communications to improve relationships and customer service.
  • Maintain communications with other cotton offices, operations, and clerical staff.
  • Direct and lead the implementation of marketing strategies to achieve or exceed divisional targets.
  • Identify and analyze potential key supplier and end-user market opportunities within domestic markets for fiber.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends and competitor activities, revising strategies as needed.
  • Represent the fiber trading group on external meetings, committees, and associations.
  • Contribute to an environment that cultivates collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Track progress towards business plans and objectives and initiate action as required.
