About The Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position. The Costume Shop Assistant will be responsible for constructing, altering, and repairing costumes, assisting with fabric treatments, organizing stock, supporting wardrobe during rehearsals and performances, and performing quick changes and repairs.

Requirements

• Willingness to be trained on shop equipment (sewing machines, sergers, irons, steamers)
• Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
• In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
• Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Responsibilities

• Construct, alter, and repair costumes according to designer specifications (patterning, cutting, sewing, fitting)
• Assist with dyeing, distressing, and painting fabric/costume pieces
• Pull costumes from stock and organize/maintain the costume storage areas
• Assist with fittings for cast members, taking measurements and notes
• Support wardrobe crew during dress rehearsals and performances (quick changes, repairs, laundry/maintenance of costumes during the run)
