About The Position

The Engineering Cost Leader will be the responsible and accountable leader for Engineering budget planning. It will include all elements of the business planning cycle inclusive of current year pacing, SII/Op planning for the next year and long-range forecasting (3–5-year view). Additional scope will include: liquidation rate planning, program management of Fixed Production cost, as well as other core operational and tools related activities (vouchering, bullet trains etc.)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical or business-related discipline from an accredited university or college
  • 5+ years of related experience in the industrial sector.

  • Prior experience in regulated industries, such as Nuclear
  • Prior experience in Power, Energy industries
  • Related experience with financial planning & analysis & demand planning with large complex organizations.
  • In depth understanding of Engineering functional cost categories, processes and hours usage
  • Proven experience leading cross functional teams toward a common goal using credibility, influence and trust as key elements to say-do
  • Proven to be effective driving outcomes in large matrixed organizations – understands how to navigate geographies, cultures, relationships

Responsibilities

  • Partnering with Nuclear Engineering organization and value stream partners to help guide critical decision making for meeting financial commitments to achieve current budget
  • Provide accountable ownership of Engineering budget, including cost strategy development, target setting, and daily management routines of cost associated KPI’s
  • Compare demands (Req, R&D, FPC) and connect the dots between actuals, trending and partner with Finance to predict the liquidation impact
  • Provide active feedback to Engineering operations & finance and course adjust headcount and functional cost productivity to meet organizational goals
  • Partner to establish dashboards & visual management to proactively enable the ability to spot cost trends, stop work and bring the right stakeholders together to discuss anomalies & potential problems
  • Partner with other Operational Leaders and Finance to analyze key variables & set various cost liquidation rates for the year ahead
  • Translate and communicate Nuclear business objectives into Engineering cost related actions
  • Lead monthly Engineering cost and budget meetings and provide clear concise communications with the extended business partners
  • Partner with finance and productivity leader to manage bullet trains and find opportunities for cost reductions.
  • Work cross-functionally (IT, Sourcing, etc) to activate plans & realize savings
  • Provide engineering oversight of vouchering tools and guide strategy and maintenance
  • Partner with Planning Leader to improve overall demand and supply data portal quality
  • Establish and drive consistency of Engineering cost data sources for one source of truth for Nuclear organization
  • Effectively partner with the other Engineering leaders for current year pacing and op planning for the following year
  • Challenge status quo in terms of the current operating model / current processes always in search of a better more productive way, eliminate process waste and minimizing touch-times / hand-offs, always with a Lean mindset
  • Summarizing, elevating, and creating content / delivering narratives to key business leaders
