About The Position

Rohadfox Construction Control Management is seeking a Cost Estimator with extensive experience in Water and Wastewater Cost Estimating. The role requires strong technical knowledge of water and wastewater systems, excellent construction cost estimation skills, and project management awareness. This is a remote, part-time opportunity with occasional site visits required in Florida, making it an ideal role for a retiree.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience with Water and Wastewater Cost Estimating.
• Technical knowledge of water and wastewater systems.
• Strong construction cost estimation skills.
• Project management awareness.
• Familiarity with treatment plants, collection systems, stormwater infrastructure, and related civil works.
• Experience with underground utilities (water, sewer, storm drain, conduit, and process piping projects).
• Ability to estimate costs for mechanical systems (pumps, valves, process equipment) in treatment plants.
• Proficiency in measuring quantities for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Experience preparing and submitting competitive bids, including RFQs and RFPs.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS, RS Means), CAD, and Microsoft Excel/Word.
• Understanding of water/wastewater industry cost structures and project types.
• 10+ years in mechanical or civil estimating for treatment plants, with project management involvement.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team on multiple projects.
• Hands-on experience in water/wastewater projects.
• Strong estimating and cost analysis skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with underground utilities is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, and drawings to determine scope, quantities, and costs.
• Perform detailed take-offs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Prepare and submit competitive bids, including RFQs and RFPs.
• Identify cost and schedule risks for water/wastewater projects.
• Liaise with engineers, contractors, vendors, and clients to ensure accurate estimates and project alignment.
• Manage contracts, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
• Conduct site visits to understand conditions and logistics for accurate cost modeling.
• Deliver accurate, compliant, and competitive bids.
