About The Position

Creates all program related cost estimates for new business, service parts and engineering changes. Also creates targets and assists purchasing in negotiating piece cost for purchased parts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in engineering or closely related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in cost estimation or closely related.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience working for a manufacturing sector preferably automotive.
  • Must be able to read and understand manufacturing layouts and component drawings
  • Understand math models for component costing
  • Ability to travel domestically by car or plane (up to 15% travel)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports, statements and projections.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts and operations, including calculations, percentages, etc.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and write simple correspondence.
  • Synthesize complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Designs work flows and procedures.
  • Understands business implications of decisions.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement of products for manufacturability.
  • Knowledge of engineering fundaments, mechanical systems, automotive systems, and exhaust systems.

  • Preferably knowledge with measuring and design programs (e.g. Forming Suit, Catia)
  • Experience with AI based Cost estimation software desired.

Responsibilities

  • Create and review cost estimates for exhaust after treatment systems including all internal and external components.
  • Creation of cost estimates for new business and engineering changes.
  • Attend and participate in internal and external cost optimization workshops.
  • Ensure calculation model reflects the most recent information.
  • Validate and maintain cost models and base data.
  • Create target costs for procurement parts.
  • Transfer and challenge manufacturing data provided for programs.
  • Ensure completeness of bill of material as well as the complete cost estimation.
  • Support Product Engineering (PE) in the early design phase with rough estimates, to help guide PE to the most cost efficient design.
  • Support Sales during the creation of Cost Break downs and Customer claims using our internal cost models
  • Actively support Sales team during claim and pricing negotiations at the customer location where needed.
