About The Position

MBP is looking for a Cost Estimator in the U.S. Northern Virginia area, with experience providing cost estimating on vertical and/or horizontal construction projects during preconstruction. The candidate will have the capability to support the preparation of large, complex estimating deliverables. Additional experience in one or more of the following is desired: general contracting, construction management, CPM scheduling, value engineering, risk management, constructability review, claims analysis, and/or contract administration. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Requirements

• 3 to 7 years of experience providing cost estimating on vertical and/or horizontal construction projects.
• Experience in A/E/C industry preferred.
• Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
• Proficiency in reading/understanding construction plans and specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Proficiency with BlueBeam and/or other quantity take-off software programs.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Performs quantity take-offs and pricing for multiple trades.
• Prepares and presents final deliverable documentation to internal estimating leads.
• Performs quality checks of fellow team members' estimates, as needed.
• Performs, reviews, and analyses contractor and/or designer estimates, with specific experience in GMP arrangements.
• Supports estimate reconciliations with clients and contractors.
• Develops and/or reviews change order requests.
• Assists with development and/or analysis of post-construction cost analyses.
• Coordinates project workload with other estimating team members.
• Participates in the training and development of more junior estimators.
